I studied mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech while training as a US Marine Corps officer candidate. Prior to my ship date with the Marine Corps, I worked as a maintenance engineer at the Jurys Doyle Hotel (now the Dupont Circle Hotel) on Dupont Circle in Washington, DC.
As a Marine Corps officer, I deployed to Afghanistan twice, first as a platoon commander and then as an operations planning officer.
I studied at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, earning an MBA with a focus in strategy and marketing. My corporate experience includes several years in the healthcare industry as a Brand Manager and Marketing Director, focusing on the intersection of clinical and commercial aspects of special care and rare disease management.
While working on my PhD, I started working in EMS as an Emergency Medical Technician for LifeTech EMS in the Twin Cities (covering concerts and events) and on an ambulance for Regions Hospital.
